Given the proportion of the Gazan population that are children / young people and the brazen manner in which their elected government try to protect them by firing rockets in close proximity to them the casualties from the Israeli bombardment are surprisingly low as far as children are concerned.

Given the amount of hardware Israel have and the level of destruction they could level on Gaza if they chose to that's a fairly churlish thing to say.

Also on Friday, Hamas sources in Gaza said 18 people accused of collaborating with Israel had been executed.

Hamas sources said Friday's executions had been carried out by what it called the Resistance, which may suggest the involvement of other armed Palestinian factions.

Hamas officials told Reuters news agency that the first 11 executions were carried out at an abandoned police station.

Witnesses said another seven people were shot dead by men in Hamas uniforms outside the al-Umari mosque in central Gaza.

After the first 11 executions, Hamas warned that "the same punishment will be imposed soon on others".

The tragedy is that we're trying to polarise this tragedy. There isn't a morale high ground here. Terrorism, as practiced by Hamas, cannot be defended.
The apartheid and ethnic cleansing that is, and always has been, practiced by the Israeli state cannot be defended.

Pierre is right, there will be many more terrorists born on a daily basis. That's human nature. As long as the state of Israel dehumanise Palestinians, then there is the opportunity for terrorism to grow and prosper. As long as Hamas (or the next terrorist group) exist, then Israel will continue to defend it's border and kill the siblings, mothers and fathers of the next generation of Terrorists.

They're right to object and Israel certainly has gone too far in Gaza and elsewhere.

However if these people were Arabs living under Hamas they'd probably be executed for any such criticism.
