A Daily Fail article stated

The New Zealand judge heading the UK's historical child abuse inquiry has shocked barristers by admitting that she is confused by English law.

then doesn't back it up or mention it again in the article.

No other news media reported this, so I really have my doubts about the veracity of this statement.

If she didn't say it I'd imagine she'd be pretty upset about these claims and possibly considering legal action.

I wouldn't be surprised that, given all the time off it's reported she took*, she was asked to resign. Whatever the truth, it's all starting to remind me of the FA's legendary mishandling of the national team's managerial issues...

The reason for Dame Lowell Goddard's resignation as chairwoman of the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse has not been made clear, but suggestions she had difficult relations with officials have begun to emerge.
Several sources have told me there has been "tension" with one suggesting that Justice Goddard felt she was not getting the support and "loyalty" her job required.

The inquiry said it had "recently become very concerned about aspects of Ben Emmerson QC's leadership" of his team and he had been suspended so these could be properly investigated.

Hmm! I see a connection between the last two postings..

Whilst this should be handled properly and as promptly as is practical i don't think this will ever be properly investigated or any consequences come from it. Most of the guilty come from the establishment and although a lot within will not support the guilty one's are probably disgusted by what they did they won't allow this to damage the whole. I won't be holding my breath waiting for the first person to be successfully prosecuted because of all this and the victims will at best get payoffs but not real justice.

I have a feeling that this will stumble along until everyone important who was involved is dead. The last thing they'd want is for someone to spill the beans and implicate a number of high profile establishment figures.
