Re: False Promises

What exactly is the problem here? I'm no lover of VM but they promised free upgrades 2 or 3 years ago, they didn't promise anyone any dates but gave approximate time scales and to the best of my knowledge all their customers were upgraded.

They're doing the same now, promising an upgrade and and again giving estimates as to when it will happen. We all know their history for 'coming soon' offers but came good the last time it happened and I don't see anything wrong with a company using this in their advertising.

The only way this could be a false promise is if the upgrades simply don't happen.

Re: False Promises

The problem I have is the word "soon"

Coming 2015 would be more accurate in some areas

The problem is that "soon" is entirely relative and Virgin takes full advantage of that. They're technically correct (the best kind of correct).

I laterly specifically asked out about mine on the VM forums and told that it wouldnt happen until ALL the upgrades were complete, the thread is still there.

Further the previous STM regime pages showed different throttling for 1:10 as well as 1:20 on nearly all the tarrifs not just 100mb. Since throttling is now the same for everyone those pages have long since gone.

Finally the number of posts on this forum and the VM community with stats showing 1:10 configurations. Clearly this has happened for some and not many others.

It is not a case of rumour, sumation, supposition or people just making things up. The statements in the original FAQ should be viewed as a contractual promise and VM have made excuses ever since for not universally delivering and now seem to pretend that it never really happened.
That was for the last "speed upgrade" and the thread is 2 years old
