Yes, the article is interesting, but your chart is misleading as it shows paid leave entitlement guaranteed by law. So, my interpretation of the USA being at the bottom of the chart is that this is a "less government" society where employers are left to make their own contracts with employees, with minimal state interference. Being high up in the table is a bad thing, in my opinion.

To answer your question, I'm entitled to 27 days leave (take them when I like) plus nine statutory days (take them when I'm told), a total of 36 days, which if I'm honest if far too much. But if I don't take them, I lose them, which is why today I'm sitting at home, currently looking through the Forum.
