Time will also depend on how fast the washing machine's spin is. Our new Indesit is 1400 and some stuff is almost wearable straight out of the drum.
As for pegging out: Pegs usually have a half hole in each side that fits over the line and allows the feet at the end to grip the article, this is particularly good on socks and helps them dry faster at the peg end. For some reason this detail eludes women and they always wrap things over the dirty line and wham the peg right over.
