Scientific Atlanta 'drinks' my audio

I currently have hooked up to my TV via scart, since getting it installed I've noticed the sound wasn't being sent out via my tv but thought nothing of it until lastnight, I started unplugging stuff to see what was causing it, as soon as i removed the above STB my TV started sending the sound back out to my amp. Is there any reason this STB should eat the audio thats suppose to come out of my TV? and is there any way to fix it.

(I'm on a Samsung LE26R87 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...SIN=B000O15GOK if it makes any difference) - I take the stereo audio out from the TV to feed to my amp, so I can watch freeview with lots of noise
