It would definitely be a lot safer for the patient! Couldn't find any figures for the UK but in the U.S. Iatrogenic causes of death which includes death caused by medication is the 3rd largest cause of death.
Can just see it now "Here you go Mrs Smith just take one of these pills (Tic Tacs) three times a day and not only will your sore throat be better within 7-10 days but your breath will be minty fresh as well"
