Reading this article about the proposed O2 and Three merger (which I disagree with but that's besides the point) and noted a couple of interesting snippets
Quote:
Sky, Virgin, Tesco and UK Broadband have agreed to use Three-O2's share of UK airwaves to offer their own mobile packages, the company said.

Then later on in the article Tom Mockridge has weighed in, in support of the merger
Quote:
Tom Mockridge, Virgin Media chief executive, said: "A combined O2-Three would provide a counter balance to the strength of BT/EE, offering an alternative source of capacity to other providers who will drive competition in their own right."

This happening could be why VM have been dragging their heels with regards to getting 4G support. Whether changing providers is dependant on the merger going through however remains to be seen
