Even the CAB advised her to throw her TV in a skip as the BBC would have her sent to prison!!!! Yet her only contact with the outside world is a TV. Why can't she just buy a TV that does not receive the BBC? Its very easy to do with modern technology

We haven't paid the BBC tax for 15 years and hardly watch any of the rubbish that they broadcast. It's not that difficult: Just don't open your front door to the bozos.
Strictly speaking it's not the not paying the tax that gets a prison sentence, it's ignoring the court order to pay the non-compliance fine.
