Thumbs up Agincourt Day!

599 years ago to the day!

'For if these men do not die well...it'll be a black matter for the King, who led them to it!'

(I really must get around to reading Henry V...)

I'm debating actually going there for the 600th anniversary of England teaching the French that in warfare numbers aren't everything. Mind you, Henry V did get lucky with the downpour the night before...marching uphill in full battle armour on a muddy field is definitely not a good idea - especially when you've got hundreds of the finest archers in England and Wales waiting for you, mowing you down with thousands of arrows while you're still 300 yards away!

It's been alleged Henry's archers loosed over a million arrows that day. Manufacturing that many wouldn't be easy even today...how they did it in 1415 seems incredible.

Outnumbered around six to one, knackered from over a week of campaigns fought across France - and suffering from severe dysentery to boot. They must've been hard men back then.
