I suppose that's its greatest strength and weakness at the same time. The programmes it makes are for worthy causes, and tackle worthy subjects that probably wouldn't get the screen time otherwise. But, they don't make great television, and when someone wants to turn off and unwind, do they choose a program about LGBT rights in the US or Celebrity Juice or Big Brother.

I, for one, am glad this channel exists and hope it continues to exist, but I can see why so few people are watching, and why it's needed to kick off this funding appeal.
