A cheap TP-Link N AP can be had for £18 (I just got one from Play) but a decent N router with a megabit switch is going to cost north of £60. If you want that AP can be configured as a wireless repeater too. Downside is it's only 2.4GHz 150Mbps so not future proof.
That's exactly what I did.

The TP-Link AP provides very good speeds all over the house.

The Superhub wireless is ok - as long as you're sitting next to it.
