Alan. Why don't you do some research yourself before making false statements.
To drive from my house to Palma would take two days, with two ferries, and is 942 miles. This would cost £196 in fuel, as well as the ferry to France at £29. And then £211 euros for the Barcelona to Palma ferry.
By coach would cost a fortune, with loads of changes.

You still need food and accommodation, not to mention treatment for blisters, as well as two ferries (which cost more than a flight).

There is no direct bus or coach. So you can look that up yourself.
As for hitch hiking, you still need food, accommodation, and ferry fares.
