They kept both names because they think it will be an easy way to compete, T-Mobile is the brand that offers value for money, whilst Orange is meant to be the first class brand.
It won't last for long, they will eventually use one name.
With regards to Virgin Media being a better company than Telewest, then no, they had great customer service and customer relations and no offshore call centres and the service was just great 95% of the time. Better than NTL, it is NTL through and through, better than CWC, definately!
