Ensured you installed the lastest Java runtime? That'd be more important than the video drivers.

Assuming it's Minecraft PC and not Minecraft Windows 10 edition (handheld port)

If ensuring the latest Java is installed I'd recommend completely uninstalling it and reinstalling Java. Memory issues are a right arse with Java. There's a Java file that can be opened in notepad to edit values, this used to be located in the . Minecraft folder, unsure if it's still there. You can set higher memory parameters. IIRC the default string is set to -Xmx1G which can in turn be set to -Xmx2G or -Xmx3G the latter is usually the remedy for most Java memory issues. Assuming you're utilising more than 3gb of RAM. 8 is generally the norm now.
