Sky sees it as a way of adding added value to existing customers to help stop them thinking about defecting to a rival, namely BT Sport but also operators such as Virgin Media and TalkTalk TV. |
Re Virgin Media, there are two ways to view this either
1. They don't offer this to VM as Sky want this to stop customers leaving for VM, especially for those who are attracted to the VM XL pack offering BT Sport.
2. They want encourage take up of the complete Sky Sports package so they offer to it VM.
I think option 1 is far more likely but you never know.
