Reason for 4 devices per drop cable is the biggest splitter and hdu's are only 4 way and if any bigger splitters were used the signal loss would be too high and hdu's bigger than 4 way are unavailable.. Although in theory u can split each of the 4 ways on a hdu
iv never heard so much nonsense i have done multi box installs and never needed a 2nd cable there is no maximum amount of equipment per cable as long as the signal is ok. As for saying if they dont want the coax splitting iv never given the customer that option in 15yrs of fitting cable id just go ahead and get it done time is money
