Where a parliamentary candidate sits on specific policies is of secondary interest at best to most voters. At a general election it is overwhelmingly the national message and how well the candidates communicate it and apply it to local circumstances that's the key to success.
Throwing Kickstarter cash at a candidate just because they're more socially liberal than the others won't make a difference if that candidate is a Tory in a Labour stronghold, or vice versa. I doubt there will be enough swing seats at the next election to make a big difference either.
