I'd prefer Sky proper multi-room tv any day. Tubbytablets might be ok for kids, until they get sat on or eaten by the dog and I prefer watching tv on a tv. (VM won't fix or support it like set-top-boxes!) TV Anywhere just seems buggy and badly written and full of errors and restrictions. If it is what you want you can get a 24" tv with android built in for half the price but then you still don't get the benefits of multi-tv and are gambling on whether Virgin will let it work with a third party product and whether tv anywhere does what you want it.
