Does everything else that you do work normally? It would be useful to run some checks on the hardware. Just make sure what you run doesn't try overwriting anything. If you can backup any important files that you don't want to lose then you could try reinstalling windows. Just make sure any other programs you need you either have the discs or cab download them.
