SterlingHouse is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Banks, Fraud and the Internet

Dear All,

I am actually writing on behalf of Sterling House.

Before this thing Chinese Whispers itself into a conspiracy, at this stage like you all we have absolutely no idea who www.Ibuyit.biz are - but we suspect, like you all do, that if they are really debiting cards without the owners permission then they do have a couple of questions to answer.

We are currently attempting to deteremine if there has been any leak of customer credit card numbers from Sterling House - but I have to say at this point of time we can find no evidence to suggest this, yet we continue to investigate with the help of our merchant service provider HSBC (who has suggested that it is just as likely at this stage that the leak is a 'rogue' employee of theirs).

Your concerns about the Sterling House telephone numbers are understandable but the truth is this -

Bicycle despatches to mail order customers for Sterling House are made on our behalf by Universal Cycles Plc from a warehouse address in Basildon (where Anna is stationed) and she can be reached on 01268 247000 ext 246.

Alternatively the Sterling House customer enquiry team can be reached on 0870 2410750 - they are also based in Basildon, but Anna was reluctant to give that number because it can get very busy and she didn't want forum member MPV getting a 'busy' tone.

The Sterling House order line which a member said sounded 'far away' - is based in India, it is far away.

Sterling House has a showroom in Southend - mainly for customers who don't want to buy over the telephone and that is the 01702 719657 number.

Finally, please if you so wish call us, all of you mention the fact that you bought bicycles from us and no doubt received them, which in truth means we sent them - not the actions of a company who are upto 'no good' surely.

I have thus far seen only three cases of a former Sterling House customer being later debited by www.Ibuyit.biz - please if you have additional information that might help in anyway let us know. If we can establish something concrete we can notify the police and other government bodies to take the matter further.

We will do all we can and all the best.

Kind Regards
Michael Richards
