Second Sky box but no subscription
Hi Everyone.
I just signed up and thought id say hi at the same time as asking my first question. I am a Sky customer and have a HD box downstairs in the living room. When Sky came to install the HD box they left me my old Sky+ box which has been sitting around doing nothing. I would like to install this into my bedroom and have ordered the twin cable ready to do the work next weekend. What I would like to know is how do I go about getting myself another Sky viewing card? I do not want to buy multiroom as this will be a waste but would like the free channels instead. Do I have to go to Sky and ask them? Thanks Dean |

:welcome:
You'll be able to receive all the Free to Air (FTA) channels (free, unencrypted) without a viewing card. A viewing card is only necessary for the Free to View (FTV) channels (free, encrypted). Sky do a "Freesat from Sky" viewing card (£25), which gives the FTV channels. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...hannels_at_28E http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freesat...S_Viewing_Card One thing to note though: You will not be able to make use of the Sky+ box's actual Sky+ PVR features without a Sky subscription for that box (e.g. Multiroom, to mirror the main box's subscription onto the 2nd box, or a Sky+ subscription, to simply give the 2nd box PVR abilities). |
