I still try and recreate 'Supermarket Sweep' on a weekly basis, such is my dislike of food shopping...

A genuinely nice bloke, not many of them about any longer.

- the next time you're at the checkout counter and you hear the beep beep, think of all the fun you can have on SUPERMARKET SWEEP.
- i’m afraid madam that here at Aldi it’s still considered shoplifting...

Wow, I still remember him from his time on Radio Trent in the 1980's.

RIP Dale.

It was on Channel 5's The Wright Stuff yesterday morning that it's being speculated by Steve Allen that he took his own life. Steve Allen claims that he was a close friend and that Dale rang him to ask if he wondered if anyone would turn up for his funeral.

This article says that he was suffering from depression and had to sell his home to cover mounting debts:

Either way it's very, very sad.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was true. His career took a nose dive in later years and my question about his home would have been why did he not cut back on that he couldn't afford to stop amounting such huge debts?

Dave Allen says that he loved spending money and that he couldn't bear the thought of anyone thinking he didn't have any.

Seems to have been a troubled man inside :(

He's still on LBC radio very early mornings!

The last few mornings he's been going on about how he was close to Dale Winton and IMO milking this unfortunate incident for his own drama.

If he was such a close friend he wouldn't be disclosing things like this. Also, a former colleague, Cristo Foufas has been saying that it is known within the industry that he hadn't seen him in person for many years.

They fell out over something Steve said on the radio about him and it was many years ago, I was listening to it!
