Trackers (GPS or BT)

I'm looking at get a few for some of my stuff, even hide one in the car.

Are there any better ones out there, and has anyone here used them?

The Trackr are £30 each.

Well that page is an ad.

I've seen these before though. It won't track it unless it's near a phone and the idea is that it's crowdsourced so if someone else has a trackr it can pick up others thereby giving 'the last known location'. However it's unlikely to work well as so few people have them and, at least on iOS, the app will have to be open for it to pick up.

I agree with Damien. The product you linked to might work well for items in a very larger, highly populated city, but outwith that the chances of someone else actually having the app running to feed the location back is pretty tiny. Especially on a secret moonbase!

If you want a proper tracker for your car, it needs to have GPS and some sort of transmitter built-in (probably a cellular system) so that you can actually track it from anywhere.
