Video player question

I know this is a kind of off the wall question and i dont know if anyone knows the answer.

Does anyone know of a program that you can register say videos in one program to play in VLC in one folder and then videos of the same extension to play in another program in another folder?

Anyone?

I don't think windows will let you do that as it's the extension that's registered to an app.

you could give that files in the other folder a different extension and register than with another app, and the app should be clever enough to still play it, so in folder1 .avi, and in folder 2.avii

I just thought maybe there was an easy work around.

right-click the file and select Open With, then select your player of choice.

I just have icons of the different players on the desktop and then "drag and drop".
