Odd cursor problem

Well I think it's odd. Every so often when I'm editing text on this site I find I can place the cursor in correct position as usual using the mouse pointer but when I then try to enter the required text, it appears on the line below where the cursor was. What's causing this and how can I fix it.

TIA as always.

Does it happen in all browsers?

We had this problem at work in a version of IE with the works site, we had to upgrade to the latest IE for it to appear correct.

I don't know as I mainly use IE to be honest. It doesn't happen all the time but I'll try to recreate the problem then see if it happens in Chrome. Cheers.

If it does not happen in word or notepad then it most probably the browser, script problem.

Right, I've been fiddling around this morning editing posts here in Chrome and I can't seem to recreate the problem. Could this be something as simple as a setting somewhere in IE? I'm guessing that any relevant display, cursor or mouse settings I've changed over time would be the same in any browser or is that not the case? For a while I wondered if the cursor size is set slightly too big and is overlapping lines of text but when I click the mouse the cursor definitely appears in the correct place even if the subsequent text doesn't.

I've been having problems with the cursor in Facebook at times. The cursor will not allow itself to be placed between letters, it insists on landing on a character. And then entering text just changes the character at that point without moving forward.

Make sure you're running at 100% zoom level. Press CTRL + 0 (zero, not the letter O) to go back to 100% zoom. I've found that can cause the issue you describe.

I was going to say the exact same thing.

I am out of ideas after if it is just Cable forum related, maybe you can test on a similar site that runs the same software?

Why you still using IE though? :D

Bingo, I am using zoom 110% to assist my poor old eyes... :)

Cheers guys.

As regards IE, I've always used it and prefer the favourites layout especially. I do use Chrome sometimes as it's quicker on some sites. I don't regularly visit many sites really, probably less than a dozen, and this is the only forum I use now.

What version of IE are you using?

edit.

Just tried editing this post at 110% in IE11 and it works fine.

God IE is such a terrible out dated browser compared to Chrome or Firefox!

Maybe I like it because I'm outdated... ;)

It's the layout I like and although Chrome is faster, I'm not too bothered about that most of the time. I tend to use Chrome when I'm on YouTube.
