Not all the upgrades have happened yet, you shouldn't have to do anything fo it to happen.

Which modem have you got?

With regards to your speed, are you using a router? If so which one, and have you tried connecting straight to PC?

Are you using a firewall? If so which one?

Some routers and some of the older modem models do not handle the higher speeds. Are you connected wirelessly to the router?

You need to take the router out of the equation for testing purposes, this will help highlight what is causing the slow down. Direct connect to the modem and then test again, once you do that we may be able to tell you yes or no but to be honest if you are looking to go to 20Mb you probably need a new modem anyway and if you call and tell them that you will swap your modem yourself they will send it to you in the post.

Re: Virgin media upgrade

elibelly, it sounds like you have an NTL 250 (the model numbers NTL/Virgin use don't necessarily match with the model numbers the manufacturers use). Have a look at http://www.chetnet.co.uk/articles/in...x_v2&id=91&c=4 and see if it is there.

If it is a 250, it should cope with both 10 and 20 meg.

Bad Zingy ........ lol
I wouldn't worry about the modem until you have taken the router out of the way as it sounds as though it may well be that causing an issue, especially if you are wireless as then you are at the mercy of a lot of things that can impact your speeds.

That would lead me to suspect that the router needs an upgrade.

A quick Google for that router seems to indicate that it is an ADSL router...

I guess that may well be your problem.
