2x nokias a lumia 620 and a 720 both no signal at home

ok soooo
both me and partner been with virgin mobile for yearsssssssssssss
both recently got new handsets
mine a lumia 620 (3/4 months ago)
mrs a lumia 720 (2/3 months ago)
i work from home and for a few weeks now ive been having sporadic signal(been fine for over 5 years over 4 bars) always
anyway everytime i pick my handset up its showing no signal but when i try to use it all of a sudden i have 4 bars
customers are phoning my landline saying my mobile goes right to answering machine

my mrs phone is fine when shes at work but does the same when she is at home too

tech guy on phone first said it was my handset.......when i mentioned my mrs phone does the same and is a different model he then said oh then its your sim cards ill send you both new sim cards
..................am i being fobbed off here?

i dont see how it could be the handset then the sim card?
he also mentioned ee? im on virgin that uses tmobile whats ee got to do with anything?

all ideas / help appreciated

If it is using T Mobile, switch network to Orange. My Blackberry wouldn't get a signal in the house at all, changing it to use Orange and I am never below 4 bars in the house now.

hi mark thanks for your reply
we have both handsets set to auto choose between virgin(tmobile) and orange
you think we would be better just switching to orange alltogether?

I do now and it works fine for me. Would be worth a try to see if it works. If not then it must be the SIM card. Shocked they didn't advise trying Orange exclusively before new SIM to be honest.

FYI EE is the name of the merged T-Mobile Orange.

One will be Virgin and one will be virgin, the one with the lower case v is the Orange network

Virgin is T-Mobile and virgin is Orange.

I had major problems last year when I first moved to my flat. Its an old Glasgow Tenemant so has very thick walls, and would get no signal at all. However now with it sharing the Orange network and auto switching things are great. I have 3 VM mobiles in the house.

However a few months ago my signal got really bad all around Glasgow and it seems that there was work being done to the nearby masts. Its all back to normal now.

Same problem here - my daughter has been with t-mobile for 10 years and we have been on Virgin for 3 or so. Always had a brilliant signal at home and over the last two months - it's either no signal or 'E' My phones sim-free and despite that, have tried all the usuable networks and still the same.

As with the OP - great at work and elsewhere.

I had the same problem recently with a galaxy s3. I switched to gsm only when in the house and now have between 3 and full bars signal on 2g
It is not a problem no 3g at home as the phone is on wifi in the house

'Good' at home,

I'm still mystified why it suddenly bobbins a couple of months ago.
Wouldnt surprise me if VirginMobile are now the poor relation in terms of signal since 4G was announced by EE.

'More power!'
'I can-ne do it cappin. The mast is gonne blow'
'Take it from VM..NOW'

Re: 2x nokias a lumia 620 and a 720 both no signal at home

EE is in the process of removing duplicate and overlapping masts and upgrading the rest. During the process you are likely to see reduced signal in some areas, some temporary, some permanent.

Do they have any intention of actually merging the two networks or not?

qasdfdsaq 07-08-2013 22:44

Re: 2x nokias a lumia 620 and a 720 both no signal at home

Define "merging". They already work as one, show up as one, are billed and charged as one, and are run by the same people. As far as they're concerned they finished "merging" the networks years ago.
