The usual Islamist suspects will, of course, blame the West for killing Muslims, even though >90% of Muslims killed in this manner, terrorism and combat, are killed by other Muslims.

I have a nasty feeling that the genie is out of the bottle when it comes to global conflict and that there's no way back. It's almost like a self destruct mechanism is at work and more groups like this will surface and spread yet more mayhem in the name of one cause or another.

There are a few in Pakistan, which itself is not the paragon of stability you would hope a nuclear-armed state to be. Plenty of Taliban operating in the country too, often with the tacit assent of the local authorities.
