Re: Tunnel from New York to London

Truly amazing piece of technology, it puts me in mind of a program I saw a while back called engineering the impossible, where-by it was proposed to link London and New York by tunnel. The actual tunnel would be suspended on chains across the Atlantic about 100 meters down, the train itself would be of the Maglev technology, like the one in Germany, but the cou-de-gras of the project would be that the train would operate in a vacuum. Apparently this would enable the train to reach speeds in excess of 8000mph, and bring the journey time, covering over 3000 miles, to well under an hour. The gratifying part of this is that the project is technologically possible at the present time, but the cost would be staggering.

Quote:

A New York football fan who presumably supports the English club Chelsea steps up: "Man U. Suck!" he writes.
The people in London look perplexed, and a little annoyed to be frank - until someone points out that perhaps to them it reads: "Man, you suck."
:D
