'Thousands' gather for Trident protest

Sounds impressive doesn't it. Well just looking at live pictures on Sky TV and Trafalgar Square isn't even full. If there are 'thousands' there it's a scant few - not quite so impressive eh?...

http://news.sky.com/story/1649840/co...rident-protest

Just for those looking at the cropped stills which look quite impressive, you should know that the picture at the square doesn't show all the empty space to either side of the 2 fountains. Aerial images of the whole square tell the true story.

To be fair, there were more people present but then Corbyn stepped up to the microphone and... :D

Looks like they are filming a Halifax advert.

Maybe Corbyn's blacked up for the occasion. :D

I'd wager there are less people 'protesting' about this major issue in London than there are supporters at our local conference league football team on a wet Sunday in winter.

Oh I don't know, there look to be a few there.

I did go and see my local non-league team this afternoon, and I'm afraid there weren't as many :(

The sheer cost of replacing Trident is obscene (£167bn), bigger than the whole NHS budget. If nothing else the country can't afford it.

Comparing a whole life multi-year budget against a single yearly budget seems a little biased...

You may not agree with their point of view but at least they got of their backsides and went to have their say. They deserve respect for that, not ridicule.

adjective, huger, hugest.
1.
extraordinarily large in bulk, quantity, or extent:
a huge ship; a huge portion of ice cream.
2.
of unbounded extent, scope, or character; limitless:
the huge genius of Mozart.
3.
Slang. very important, successful, popular, etc.:
The show is huge in Britain.
So you support the rally ... nice .. :)

While l am not a lover of Corbyn we do still live in a democracy where people have to right to protest peacefully and long may that continue.

Agree but no one takes any notice and, as can be seen from this thread, ridicule peaceful protest. Press aren't interested unless trouble kicks off.

Totally agree Den. I also do not like Corbyn for various reasons but these people deserve credit for making the effort to get out there and say their piece. More credit that those who complain from their keyboards ..

Sadly most of the press and that includes left wing and right wing newspapers have their blinkers on nowadays as instead of questioning our politicians more on the pressing issues of the day they sycophantically serve their political parties.

Those who do ridicule on this forum should basically grow up and behave like grown adults for once as everybody has a right to a opinion even if they are wrong on certain matters as it would be nice to have some reasoned adult debate for once.

And if we had no nukes to threaten to defend against someone who had nukes? And who would possibly use them without hesitation?
