Relatives forgive Charleston killer

Quote:

The teenage children of one of the victims of the shooting at a church in Charleston, say they have forgiven their mother's killer.

In this extended interview with the BBC's Rajini Vaidyanathan, Chris and Camryn Singleton said they wanted to focus on moving on in a positive way.

I don't think I could do that. All credit to them though - I hope they can rebuild their lives.

It seems the NRA aren't as forgiving. An NRA board member thinks if everyone was packing their own weapons everything would have been just rosy.

On TexasCHLForum.com, a message board, Cotton wrote that “Eight of his church members who might be alive if he had expressly allowed members to carry handguns in church are dead. Innocent people died because of his position on a political issue

Blame it on the fact that not enough people carry guns

Contrast the difference in government response if the killer is a Muslim and the victims are white.

The US:

Land of the Free - Free to be shot by gun toting lunatics, gangsters, police, children...
Home of the Brave - You need to be.

And that of Fox News, who tried to spin this as "an attack on Faith".

Strangely enough, that wasn't the tack they took when the Sikh Temple attack in Wisconsin in 2012 happened....

Remember that the NRA don't care if you're offended. They're seeking to be as outrageous as possible to move the conversation away from moderate Gun Control laws and onto how outrageous they are.

I believe they're highly effective in targeting, 'outing' and campaigning against or boycotting those who dare to press for gun controls. They're extremists in any real sense of the term.

Indeed. If I was ever unfortunate enough to be in their position I doubt I could do the same even though I know the only person I'd be damaging was myself if I didn't in the long run.

They said the same about the cinema massacre, imagine the carnage if all the audience had been armed and blasting away in the dark.

Forgiveness is a key tenant of the Christian faith which would state that if you don't forgive God won't forgive you.

That doesn't mean that those guilty don't have to face consequences for their actions, just means the individuals don't need to bring that about.
