300/350M availablity?

Anyone know how long after an area uplift the 300/350Mbit services become available?

Had a 2hr or so outage last night, now have 24DS channels and 3US (Up from 12/2) site still shows max of 200M available.

Not even sure if it would be even worth upgrading from Gamer to 350M depends on what it would do to my overall package, that said I'm impatient so if it makes steam download faster ;)

not much, your upload speed will obviously stay the same and the only time I get to benefit from the increased download speed is on torrent and in steam. I had a 5gb update for a game on Tuesday evening and it quite happily ticked along at 40.9MB/sec. I took a screenshot to wind some friends up (including Kush) but I have deleted it now.

It's more around if it would cause a contract term renewal for the entire package which I don't want as once the introductory offer ends I'll want to drop the TV most likely so it might be better till wait until that happens to change the broadband.

Same happened for me a few weeks ago, but Vivid 350 still isn't actually available here yet. Wouldn't hold your breath.

Seems the higher tiers have gone live in a number of areas either today or very recently. After getting a CMTS upgrade in November, I've just now been able to upgrade to Vivid 300. Family who live in a newly built out area that was limited to Vivid 200 now also have it available. Worth checking again now if you've been waiting for it.

Still showing 200M online :-(

I'll ask them about it next time I speak to them.

definitely worth enquiring about because you have got to remember that it is going to be 350mbits provisioned at 400mbits which going pretty much a 100% speed increase for you.

Only if I bypass my L2TP tunnels to AAISP ;)

Finally on 350Mb now, can't believe it took so long. Roll on the next round of speed updates so I have to wait another year or two to get that update.

I was 24 down 2 up for ages with no 300/350. Recently moved to 4 up and a month later 350 was available.

yeah I think that is the sticking point atm. Igni has said in the past that the network can handle 500mbits NOW if they wanted to make it available however I think the thing which is holding them back is the upstream capacity. Going from 12mbits up to 20 is more than half as much again so they definitely have their work cut out.

I switched to 300Mb service, shows up as 350Mb though. 20 d/s and 4 u/s, been like this since middle of last year (not speed).

Does make me wonder whether 20Mb upload should of been made available in areas that are only bonding 2 upstream channels. Is there the capacity available to do it properly with only 2 upstreams? But then there would be multiple packages, so I suppose it’s easier to have one tier with 20Mb upload (I’m excluding 200Mb Gamer as it’s not longer available to purchase, although some people will be on it).

Agreed that Vivid 300/350 is only of value if you want to waste no time downloading big files. Today I managed 46.0 MB using a torrent. I downloaded 3.77GB in 2 mins 12 secs.

Have had speed tests at 400Mbs down speed, which translates to 50MBs.

Stay on 200Mb if you don't need more down speed. Until they provide more up speed on the upper tiers my advice won't change.
