What people seem to be missing is it will be used to create groups and launch games with friends all from the same place. You can join clubs for your favorite games and I would expect with this you can run compertitions and challenges with friends and other fans of the games etc etc

These are all things that will help it. At the moment is very basic as its only a Stress Test. The clubs etc etc are what I'm looking forward to. If its done right it could be great.

But what is wrong with doing it the Xbox way through a menu system, without all the shops/apartments/bowling alleys etc. Compared with this, the new Xbox menu system is fantastic. Looks nice and is straight to the point. If people want to play sims or second life, let them buy those games.

Yeah, and I can imagine the cries from the 360 fanboys if Sony copied Microsoft! The NXE is just a rip of the best bits of XMB and Wii interfaces anyway, so to copy it would essentially be a 3rd-hand interface.

You can already have chats through XMB anyway. This is just a more interactive way of meeting up. The 'problem' with menu systems etc. is that it's a bit last-gen.

Besides, just as 360 users can switch back to the old 'blade' system, PS3 users can stick to XMB chats.

People seem to be looking at Home as something that's being forced on to PS3 users, when it's not. It's entirely optional. If it doesn't interest you, you simply don't download it. The fact that it's free only adds value to the PS3 system as a whole, for those who choose to make use of it. There are those who won't bother, and there are those - as has been said - who will embrace it eagerly, just as with Second Life.

Plus, when Home is in full swing, Sony, game devs and publishers will be able to offer a lot more than they ever could through a simple menu system, through the Game Spaces.

Love it or hate it, at least Sony are willing to try something new.

Heh, I'd love it if they copied MS! ;) :)

I'd find cross-game chat, cross-game invites, & an NXE-style Party system very handy if Sony did it.

Still, although rather dull & lifeless at the moment, Home does have a lot of potential. The clubs & the game launching could be good, at least.

Lol yeah I know what you mean. Think it will be better once Stuff opens and maybe you could by pool tables and Stuff as the wooden floor part of the Summer home looks perfect for this. No more waiting to get a game just invite friends over :)

Sometime tomorrow Home will enter Open Beta and will be avalible to anyone who owns a PS3. For those who already have it there will be a patch to update Home to 1.03 but this is just for getting open Beta ready there will be no changes.

A couple days after Open Beta the The Red Bull Air Race will also be released in Home :) and from then on Home will continue to grow with regular updates and new game spaces being made avalible. This is only the Start :)

Managed to get it installed after 9pm last night when they fixed the download servers but I tried for twenty mins to actually connect to Home and it kept timing out. I know plenty of other people found this as well.

Seems Sony didn't get their servers in order or they couldn't cope with so many people connecting at the same time.

I only used it a couple of times on the closed beta test, but it took quite a while then to do some things. There were loading delays when you walk into buildings, start a movie etc.

TBH its nothing really special at the moment with so little in it but it does have great potential imho. Will be intresting to see what the clubs are like to.

The red bull area was finally released today. The area is mostly boring but the game is awesome. Its good for a little while trying to get the best time possible. I think they've done a good job on this part.

Also in the news was that EA are building a sports area to launch there games from and with leaderboards and trophy boards etc etc. Sound's promising. Hope theres some mini-games in the area to.
