Agreed, although with things getting ever more difficult for bus operators, I don't think they will be around for much longer, except in the busiest urban areas.

It's about time the government did something about this. They have ploughed millions in subsidies and capital expenditure on the railways, but the buses are a poor relation as far as government interest is concerned.

Given that the humble bus has the potential to relieve congestion and pollution on our inadequate road network, I am amazed that there have been no major initiatives to encourage people onto the buses.
