Battlefield 3

Doesn't look like it will feature Bad Company, does anyone know if there will be a BBC 3 game? The squad is fun.

BF3 12 minute trailer - not family friendly, so no direct link (it's on the EA site, under Battlefield 3 blogs).

Re: Battlefield 3

Battlefield and Battlefield Bad Company are two separate game genres, albeit produced by the same software house.

Battlefield 3 will be a complete rewrite of the game engine. If the graphics apparent on the trailer are achievable by mere mortals with an average gaming computer spec then the scheduled Autumn release of Battlefield 3 could be awesome.

Just rx'd my Battlefield 3 PC Open Beta Early Access invite today.:)

Only problem is, I am away from home until nearly midnight tomorrow, so won't be able to download it until Thursday evening.....:(

I've had the Battlefield 3 PC beta for a while (closed beta access) and today I got access to the early xbox360 beta.

The xbox version is a shameful "fatherless" child of the game compared to the PC version. But I guess its still playable.

Re: Battlefield 3

which is more than the pc Beta is....

- constantly resizes to windowed mode
- when clicking in menus, the game will suddenly decide you no longer have a mouse connected and you have to Esc key your way out
- you can't bind any keys to actions, meaning my poor brain can't deal with the fact things like trying to run now brings up the scope
- that is, of course, after you have spawned in and are actively in game where you have to enter the menus. you cannot get to the key binding settings unless you actually enter the round, meaning you have to stand there waiting to be shot whilst you click around, discovering you can't bind anyway, and that's only if you're lucky enough you're still able to click about in the menus to get that far!
- not to mention the game server browser is now all web based - yes, I have to navigate about in IE to join a game! WTF?!?!? there's no in-game server browser. why did they do that??? it's horrendous!!!

I know it's a Beta, and there will be bugs, but this is truly shameful. for me, it just makes the whole experience unusable. I don't think I'll bother opening the Beta again, that's for sure.

The first review is live on IGN. It's a PC review but they'll be a console review once the day 1 patch goes live.

Re: Battlefield 3

I have just bitten the bullet, and ordered a new graphics card to help me enjoy BF3 more (PC game pre-ordered from Amazon) - my current graphics card is a 8800GTX, which is about the minimum spec.

I will upgrade to Win7 Ultimate over the weekend (currently Vista 64 Ultimate), and then when the Asus nVIDIA 3D GeForce GTX 560 1GB 850Mhz arrives next week, I will be ready to rock and roll.....

I was toying with buying a new PC, but the current one, even though nearly four years old, is a quad-core overclocked, and this upgrade (along with some more memory, if the current 4GB isn't enough), can put that off for another year of so, methinks.... :D

Just rx'd an email from Amazon letting me know BF3 has been dispatched, and should be with me tomorrow.

That's the weekend gone, then....:D

How much space is required for a xbox install?

I'm getting mine today, as I was up at 6:30am and no way was I gonna go to the midnight launch.

15GB altogether, that's with the HD texture pack.

That's both discs though, you could just keep the MP disc installed instead.

Hugh 28-10-2011 14:12

Re: Battlefield 3

Strange - BF3 just arrived, so I popped the disc in, and it started downloading the entire game through Origin.

I can see STM kicking in some time soon.

I think for just the HD textures it's about 1.5Gb, I think installing each disk is about 8Gb each.

Disc 1 = 7.3GB
Disc 2 = 6.7GB
HD pack = 1.5GB

It says something doesn't it when disc 1 is the MP disc.

It says downloading, but it installs from the disc. It downloads an update, but that's all

Re: Battlefield 3

Well, it's taken two and a half hours so far (97% at the moment) - it asked me to change disks about an hour ago....

Update - now it's updating from the web - 472MB.

I will see if it will run on Vista and the current 8800GTX card.

Same here oredered it from amazon, few hour before the dead line finished (limited edition version), 2 day post. come saturday morning 8:35am.. it was mine :o::D

Then 2 hours of downloading, origin first + game second third browser patch & not forgetting my gpu driver update(nivdia >patch 280.62/285.62). Oh yes too... my email from amazon - "BF3 Specact DLC" package + the 1911 pistol (leaflet in disc box)+ the free improved "back to karkland" map (when released) from BF2 within the deal. Not bad mee thinks. :p:

How did the install for others go like? rough/smooth/problem-matic? Let us know if you could be so kind:dunce:

Pricey buggers ain't they, those gpu cards... some like the 580 GTX overclocked would nice in my box...but looking around > Asus 1GB GeForce GTX 560TI DirectCUII PCI-E Graphics Card was a good fair price for anybody to upgrade to while I found looking around for a new one... then found there was an a new driver for my aging (nicely) nivdia 240 GTS (in computer from new).

Happy hunting all..

Longest headshot for me so far is 779m (twice) with the SV98. Must try harder, but I think that's pretty much the limit of that rifles range.

What annoys me is I shot one guy with a tank, ran him over but he still killed me:mad:

I've emptied a clip in to somebody they killed me and there kill cam said the had 0% health but where still runnibg around.

I was under a flatbed in the prone position, and I was stabbed:confused:

I still think there are major bugs.

Does anybody know a email for EA as I'm gonna complian about the 'Camping' and 'Spawnkilling' that is still being allowed.

It didn't happen on the first BF game on the PC.

If I knew this was still going to be allowed to happen, and BF can bite me now as I will never buy it again.

Well get use to sorry to say good buddy :o: It's not new nor going to go away, as may... some MW2 noobs have come over from there camping grave yard, to anothers prime piece of server time...game play. I have noted it too every so often, 30 mins my first game play into BF3 & 6 spawn kills in a row in one area  But thats how we learn all new game maps + game play - the good spots vs the bad spots. Just think the last MW game hasn't been patch all too good either, full of bugs eg wal hackers, aimbotters etc - we are lucky in BF2/3 these problems get solved over time, cutting the hackers out.

If you want some good game go over to NTHW server, they kick cheaters etc  :dunce: Either on BFBC 2 or BF3 server - hope that helps you out some bit :p: Look out for Hffp, you may be my next victim or two.. even few :D

Peace out

Arh metro, that map is wild, little to blow up but steps & players getting hit in the neck as you move to each covering area, never go in the center on that map, its instant death, with seeing with my own eyes. Either rpgs or assault mode is best for that map! :p:
Keep unloading ammo refills & adding to your points score ;)
Well console players are at the end of the dirty stick for the game as a whole, some times crippled GPU wise or mashed up control wise, that why PC gaming (some may say different) is better out of the options you have. Just one box that play all your games plus the rest of the day to day things, consoles age quicker & have to replaced more than a upgradable PC.

That my view point... enjoy the read > you have something burning to get off your chest? post it here :dunce:

Well I nearly trashed a controller

We were all trapped in out base, everytime we tried to leave they killed out and then a helicopter hovered over us and spawnkilled us, and they say "learn to play the game" if I could get a full refund, rather than conned into trading I would like a shot.

Sorry you weren't pleased with the game. Regarding the cheaters, we take cheating and exploiting very seriously in Battlefield 3 and want to make it clear that it will not be tolerated. This week, we’ve banned hundreds of offending ...accounts and have stats-wiped additional accounts for exploiting (such as boosting). We’ll continue to be monitoring and taking action against the minority that doesn’t respect the integrity of the game.
