Skoda Fabia Owners??
 

Guys,

Just a quick query regarding the Skoda Fabia.

My sister has been given a Hire Car which happens to be this model. Problem is - It struggles when you try and start it first time (ie - its starts and then cuts out again!!) Also, its very noisy for a petrol car!!

Anyhow - I wanted to check the oil and coolant levels in that car, so went to open the bonnet.

Big Problem - cant find out how to open the bonnet!!!!

Could any nice motor orientated person please let me know??

I think we might have to give this car back and ask for another one - a rear brake light was out - we went and got it replaced at the place we got it. We've now noticed that the reversing lights are out!!

There is no manual in the car which I believe makes it dangerous - as you dont know how to operate the car!!

PS -Sister isnt paying for the car - its a free hire as some clever 80-odd year old drove straight into her 3 week old Vauxhall Corsa!!

I would take a torch out to the car and look for a small lever under the steering wheel column and down the side of the drivers seat near the footwell as well as the passengers footwell. Can you not call the place where the car was supplied from?

If it is neither of the footwells (Im pretty sure it should be on the passenger side on the skodas) try and twist the badge on the front of the car and see if it moves, if it does it may reveal a keyhole, just use the normal key to unlock.

The lever was on the Driver's side, near the footwell!

See - it took a very bright torch to find that!!

Well, anyhow - oil and coolant levels are fine. Dunno what the problem is??

Perhaps its just a case of Skoda living up to its name!! (Even though they're supposed to be much better now, being owned by VW). Some people have commented that apparently the english translation from the Czech "Skoda" is actually "Bummer"!!

Maybe it actually translates as "Bucket"?? IMHO

By the way - no offence to any Skoda drivers!!

oi! my missus has a skoda! :) actually i think they're pretty good cars for the money. decent build quality, reasonable features. shame her indoors scraped it three times within the first month of owning it. bloody skoda drivers :D

I agree with hbtm - my mum-in-law has one, and it's a cracking little car (made by Volkswagen now). Sounds as if you've got one that's not been looked after.

Should be nice and quiet little runner.

They are not the car they once were....built by VW now...

That maybe true, but my last car was a BMW. I have certain standards and a Skoda just ain't high enough on my list :D

Yes, Excellent build quality, great driving position, fantastic reliability and superior customer service. BTW my beemer was 18 years old...I can't afford a nice new car, i'm on a tight budget. All I've got now is a Claud Butler mountain bike.

* ARR 102 -- Arrogance Refresher
Three weeks of refresher course on arrogance. $650/person

* AGG 102 -- Aggressiveness Refresher
Three weeks of refresher course on aggressiveness. $850/person

* BUD 102 -- Additional Budgeting Skills
12 weeks. This course covers additional budgeting skills including:
* How to buy your teenage child his or her first BMW and
still make the payment on your own.
* The home equity loan -- your friend.
* Selling your house to pay for your car -- you can do it.
* Paying for your BMW owner training classes -- yes, you have to.
$1500/person

These classes must be completed successfully during your first 3 months of
ownership, or we will be forced to repossess your car.

In addition, we offer other classes that you may be interested in taking.

* LIF 101 -- Living Where Other BMW Owners Live
