M.2 pcie clone or fresh install?
Hi,
Just purchased a 120gb M.2 PCIE SSD and I'm wondering if it's easier to clone my OS (Win 7, currently on a SATA SSD) to it or do a fresh install. I've Googled this and it seems there may be issues with cloning, which may require fiddling with the BIOS. Anyone got any experience with this sort of thing? Thanks. |

Fresh all the way to get the best performance.
Cloning will transfer any legacy issues in the file structure that have built up over time. |

I always do fresh install. That way u get the latest drivers for your hardware on the clean install.

Well, you live and learn. Turns out that Win 7 doesn't have native drivers for M.2 pcie SSDs, so if you don't have the SSD driver to stick on a flash drive during install, you're pretty screwed, and cannot install. Win 10, however, is a doddle. I thought SATA SSDs were fast, but the PCIE SSDs are like greased lightening.
