Hi no that's a vmng300

But they normally insist on sending an engineer and swapping it for a superhub?

As the vmng300 only supports 4 downstream channels and they are pushing out, 8 gradually.

To find out if you have 4 or more (although it will only show 4 max) go to 192.168.100.1

VMNG300 and Ambit 300 are the same thing.

Thought they were the same thing. VMNG300 made by ambit otherwise known as the Ambit300.

you will be using all 4 channels atm which is perfectly fine and some might say is a bottle neck. I have got a vmng300 as well and reguarly max out my connection. VM will flap and say you need a shub but the joke is that although the shub is capable of using 8 channels, if your area is only using 4 channels atm then that is all the shub is going to use. As VM increase speed over the next couple of years (talking about 200mbit) then you will be hard pushed to get your max speed on the vmng 300 because you would need the full capacity of all 4 channels just for yourself. The whole point of having more channels is to loads balance so if the juice isnt available on one channel you can try another.

I strongly recommend you stick with the vmng300 atm dude and see how things go. I am confident it will work perfectly for the speed increase up to 120mbit. Only ever agree to swap it for the shub if you start having recurring issues with speed of the modem is faulty.
