There isn't actually any need to open a new one every three months.

Gives us a chance to read the list again. 3 or 4 hd channels on their way, the offering is really up there now.

Don't suppose there's any info on new stuff coming to on demand? That is beginning to look more and more weak in my opinion.

When it's posted frequently then there is no need for a new thread all the time as Stephen said.

Plus the list could just be updated on the initial post, it's not as if much changes on it.

Back on topic.

On Demand is lacking in a lot of content these days with ITV and C5 seemingly withdrawing content, not to mention the poor 3D selection.

Some of us like this thread, so tough toffee to those who don't like it. Don't bother coming in here if all you are going to do is bitch and moan.

Oh well, it's Media Boy's thread so I guess we could either moan about the way he does things or just be grateful that he bothers.

I saw it as an opinion; the sort of thing you do in a discussion thread. Definitely not a 'bitch and moan'.

I personally think it would be better just to list the changes, with a link to the full list.

However, MB should be able to post what he wants to post, and if he prefers posting the full list, then he should do it.

Exactly, the only one moaning is obviously MarkC1984.

I agree with you PB, it's too long, too full of info and difficult to spot the actual changes, but as you said it's MB's thread and can post it however he wants but isn't exempt from criticism like every other member.

Lets just concentrate on what's coming soon instead of nitpicking and criticising MB when he does a very good job which no one else seems very keen to do.

I think the idea of a new thread every 3 months is actually a good idea, can you imagine a new member clicking on the post for the first time and trawling through 'breaking' news 9 months old?

At least this way it won't be more than 3 months out of date at the very worst.

Back on topic

E! HD, serious waste of bandwidth, bit like sky getting HD channels just to tick a box. I guess someone watches it occasionally but i can't imagine it was on top of anyones wanted list?

Cue the flaming from 'celebrity' watchers who have it on all day in the background :)

Yes, let's ban opinion on this thread.

No one has suggested that MB doesn't do a very good job. To the contrary, he does a very great service in providing the information that he does, and we all appreciate what he does very much. That is a given, and not what is being discussed.

I never watch it, but why should those that do be deprived of the HD version? Sounds like a bit of channel snobbery on your part to me.

Channel snobbery? that's a new insult for me :) i need to hang around here more.

I guess my point was i'd imagine VM would please more people if they HD'd a channel with better viewing figures, is what i was trying to say but didn't do it very well, obviously :)

VM can't pick and choose which HD channels they can get, so we welcome any new HD channel they are able to obtain, even if it's one we personally wouldn't watch. I don't watch sports channels, but I'll be really pleased if VM ever get HD versions Sky Sports 3 & 4.

The last thread "Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1" was 202 pages, so your point is hardly relevant, no one is going to read through it all anyway. So surely a better way would just be to have the 'latest update' posted in the initial post no?

Again, no one is picking on him for what he does, the discussion is about how that information he gets is passed on.

Of course, if anyone wants to open their own thread and pass on their own information they can publish it in any format and timeframe they like so if you fancy it give it a go otherwise give MB that same freedom. As always if you don't like what he does, or the way he does it, you don't have read his thread. For my part I'm happy to receive any information he has in any format he likes.

Technically, this is a cable forum thread which, MB started. It doesn't make it 'his thread'. It's a cable forum thread.

Why are people confusing discussion on presentation, with criticism of MB? Especially as people have already said that MB should post in whatever fashion he wants.

Only if you care about over-rated TV shows, which Sky very cleverly market to make people think they are missing out on something special, when, in reality, they are not (in my opinion.) IF I cared about G.O.T. I will read the books. In fact I might just do that and give away some spoilers:erm::D:td::nono:
The only program I currently wish to watch is The Following, and prior to that Luck (only because of the excellent Dennis Farina though)

Game of Thrones is not over rated at all. Its so well done it compares in no way to any average tv series, its a quality production in every way. No one can deny that, even if its not the type of show they personally like.

I watched the first episode of The Following and even though it was good its not my kind of thing. Its that personal preference difference and the Atlantic channel seems to have at least one show for every taste, which is maybe why it appears so appealing.

As for the GoT, there is nothing to stop you reading the books AND getting the awesome eye candy and fast paced, jaw dropping tv series too :D

It's very over rated in my eyes. I am all for "slow burners" but I could not get into it. Lots of people I know gave up on it too, so I can only base my judgement on that information. It may be difficult to fault some of its production values, but I dare some of the production values on the twilight movies are good too, it does not make them any good either. I am not

Atlantic simply does not appeal to me. If E4 disappeared, I would miss The Big Bang theory, but E4 would not appeal to me in the slightest. The same goes for Sky 1 and, for a time, Fringe. Sky 1 could disappear and I would not care. The same goes for numerous channels, but I know others watch a lot programs on those channels and I am happy to help pay for the enjoyment of others.

I guess this a difficult subject for me as I see T.V. as a luxury I am fortunate enough to be able to afford. If VM cancelled my contract tomorrow, I would not be overly upset (HD movies would be the main loss) and I would be happy to spend my money elsewhere:)

Don't subscribe to Sky Movies anymore but just browsing through what's new in on demand for XL and found Pirates of the Carribbean Dead Mans Chest. Says I'm subscribed too! Checked the Sky Movies catch up channel and it says I am not subscribed so clearly a boo boo on VMs part. Unfortunately the HD selection doesn't work.

Watch it before the remove it!

Thanks for the tip. I'm only on XL too and I just tried it, it works! Had to go through Search then All OD. Also there's -

Brave
BURN-E
Chicken Little
Hunchback Of Notre Dame
Snow Buddies

Watch them while you can!

I don't use OD much often but the programme length on some of the assets are showing up wrong.

How did you find out those ones worked?

I tried POTC and says subscribed by going in via Search & Browse > Search Catch Up & On Demand > Then typed in Pirates..

Is there an easier way to find others?

If I go via Catch Up & On Demand > Movies > Sky Movies > New This Week its saying Unsubscribed.

On TiVo go through Search All TV instead, it worked for Brave earlier. The availability could be down to what region you're connected to.

Blue Bloods is still showing , Boardwalk Empire Season 4 will air later in the year.

TV Wise are reporting that A&E Networks UK a joint venture of A&E Networks and BSKYB are planning to launch the 'Lifetime Channel' later in the year in the UK.

I can understand why Sky have put Game of thrones and other US cable shows on Atlantic, but The Following is from a US TV network broadcaster, Fox and should have been put on Sky One. Other Fox shows, such as Fringe, Glee and Touch have not gone on to Atlantic.

The same applies to Blue Bloods, which is from another US TV Network channel, CBS; any of the other shows that Sky have bought from them have not gone on Atlantic.

I think people understood that HBO, Showtime etc. type shows would end up on Atlantic, but to put US Network shows on Atlantic is taking the 'P' in my opinion.

I kind of agree. I've noticed that all top tier drama from America that SKY agree deals for ends up on SKY Atlantic. Everything else ends up on SKY 1 or SKY Living.

I remember before SKY Atlantic launched, they released the following PDF:

http://www.skymedia.co.uk/_downloads...ogos%20(W).pdf

"It’s TV for a discerning audience who love storytelling that is smart, immersive magnetic and truly world-class."

"Sky Atlantic HD will be an extraordinary TV channel. It will have compulsive television that pushes creative boundaries and tells great stories."

"Smart content for the engaged mind."

SKY have created a level of snobbery with SKY Atlantic. Whilst shows like Touch, Revolution and Fringe are very entertaining, they don't fit in with the ethos of Atlantic. They very much are SKY One entertainment type shows.

Put it this way as long as SKY Atlantic is broadcasting, all future top quality drama acquired by SKY will appear on that channel. I would say however that some of the British content that is broadcast on SKY Atlantic is terrible.

Yep missed those. That makes it even worse!

FNL was picked up by ITV4 a few years ago and they dumped it so doesn't really count in my view, and Seinfield has been shown on other channels.

Smash has been shown on Living, though there is no guarantee of them showing season 2 on Living.

If they can tell me that they're launching Anywhere and on demand but not HD, a deal with Virgin has obviously been made (and signed, hence being able to tell Joe Bloggs via email) and HD ain't included.

Just out of curiosity, if Sky Sports News HD was to launch on VM, would it be free for XL customers, or would Sky try to be smart and include it with SS 1&2 HD bundle?

I would have thought the first, as you get Sky Sports News if you have the medium TV package and higher if I am not mistaken.

With Virgin Media relaunching More4 +1 and Animal Planet +1 (And more) we may see Virgin relaunching all the missing MTV Channels when it deal with Viacom is up.

Last deal signed was in August 2010 when Comedy Central HD was added.

Maybe as soon as August 2013.

Maybe it's just me but I don't see August as soon at all, it's 4 months away, that's a third of a year, if someone says soon to me I'm thinking a month maximum.

soon : Adverb
In or after a short time: "he'll be home soon".
Early: "it was too soon to know".

Unless we are on about Virgin Medias meaning of it

soon : Adverb
These channels will be coming 'soon'
Unqualified length of time, usually longer than the soon we are more used to.
