Our friends down south can enjoy their game, I've got a bumper footie weekend coming up.

Scotland Vs. Wales on Friday night followed by Rangers Vs. Stirling Albion on Saturday midday. I wonder if I can stay up and drink from the starting whistle on Friday through to the final whistle on Saturday?

I wish I could be so confident about this! Just last week a Welsh friend of mine told me England would win the six nations! If you offered me a draw in Montenegro now I'd bite your arm off!

BT Sport sign Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale has been signed up as a guest pundit for the new BT Sport channels. The Tottenham and Wales winger will also help market BT's campaigns for its 38 live Premier League games from next season. Bale, 23, is enjoying his most prolific season to date, plundering 25 goals in all competitions and attracting interest from across Europe.

Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: 'We are delighted that we've managed to do what dozens of top football managers would like to do - sign Gareth Bale.' The man himself, who previously helped promote BT when their 'Vision' started broadcasting Sky Sports 1 and 2, added: 'I am delighted to continue my relationship with BT by becoming a BT Ambassador.

'I feel honoured to join an exciting band of inspirational sporting figures, which has included Olympic heroes like the Brownlee brothers and Paralympic gold medallist Jonnie Peacock. 'A great deal has changed in my football career since my first partnership with BT, and I am happy to extend that relationship for the next three years. I am excited about the launch of BT Sport and I am happy to play my part in making it a big hit.'

As well as the rights to show 38 live games a season from the Premier League, BT Sport has also secured the rights to live matches from Serie A in Italy, Ligue 1 in France, Brasileiro in Brazil and Major League Soccer in the USA. The company have also acquired ESPN’s TV channels business in the UK and Ireland, and will screen FA Cup, Scottish Premier League, Europa League and the German Bundesliga.

Tennis and rugby union will also have a major presence.

Rebecca Lowe signs for NBC

NBC announced the first piece of their Premier League coverage, showing immediate signs that the network isn't hear to "Americanize" the game.

Former ESPN UK host Rebecca Lowe has signed a multi-year deal to host EPL coverage for NBC, which will be across multiple networks starting in August, according to a network press release. Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated broke the story yesterday. Lowe will be relocating from England to host from NBC's International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Connecticut. Lowe has worked for Setanta Sports and BBC, in addition to ESPN UK over in England.

"I'm about to begin the most exciting chapter of my life," said Lowe. "Joining NBC to present the Premier League is an enormous privilege. Not only do I get to combine my love of football and of TV presenting, but I'm getting the chance to do that in a new country, which poses a real challenge. I'm impatient for the summer to come, and inspired by NBC's outlook on putting live football on the telly...as we say in England."

"Rebecca has the perfect combination of soccer knowledge and perspective to lead our viewers through all the drama and excitement of Premier League," added Pierre Moossa, Coordinating Producer, NBC Sports Group Soccer. "When we started the talent search, Rebecca was our top choice as host, and we are extremely fortunate to have her join our team"

NBC owns the rights to every English Premier League match beginning with the 2013-14 season. Games will be aired live via NBC, NBC Sports Network, NBCSports.com, Telemundo and mun2, in addition to extra streaming platforms.

So when I hear people talk about accessing netflix through unblockus, is that something that would work with nbc's streamed coverage? If so why aren't people doing this as obviously as they are with other streaming services? Or are they?

There is a thread on DS about watching Premier League on AD Sports or Fox Soccer so yeah people use them for that. Some things are still blocked but I'd imagine any of the clever companies just allow it, knowing they'll get business from abroad even though they shouldn't.

Very interesting indeed. I would love for BT to do a deal to get BoxNation as part of some kind of bundle or Buy them out directly like they have done with ESPN.

Do they really have £1.5bn a year to invest into this sports channel?!

What would this mean? Watching it through an app or online via a computer or something?

That is pretty cool.
It would be great if they can offer it a lot cheaper than Nowtv.
BT will be able to promote their wireless network and thus their BB if they can create an app.
