BBC1 HD showing regional programme tomorrow.

Tomorrow (Sun 12/6/16) at 10:35pm each region has its own programme about the EU referendum.

However, on channel 108 (BBC1 HD) it says that my regional programme from Yorkshire is being shown

Has BBC1 HD gone regional now on VM?

In case it's an error, could people please check what they have as showing at 10:35pm tomorrow to see what's listed on the various STB's on VM (or elsewhere)?

Perhaps VM has had lines put in?? If so, this could be a USP because AFAIK this hasn't been done yet on satellite or DTT.

BBC1 HD cannot show programmes region by region, Richard, which is why you have to put up with a still screen with a caption on it when the regional news is being broadcast on the SD version of BBC1.

I too have the Yorkshire version of the programme on the HD channel, whereas the SD version is from BBC South. So clearly, the Look North programme is being broadcast over the whole of England.

The regional rollout of HD BBC news could start next year and take 12-24 months

I am pleased to announce that the BBC Executive and BBC Trust have agreed that the introduction of BBC One English regional versions and BBC Two national versions in HD will be proposed as part of our distribution plans for the next Charter period. At the point funding is approved, as soon as possible within the next Charter period beginning in 2017, we will begin rolling these out, a process likely to take 12-24 months.

Wales and Scotland seem to get their regional opt out programmes in HD OK. Why does England lag behind? Irritating to get blank screens on BBC 1 HD on Breakfast, every half hour as it can't show regional news.

About time too as there is nothing more irritating then watching the main news at 6 in HD and then having to change channels and watch the local news in SD.

BBC1HD always picks a region during regional programme slots - except for Regional News and Sunday Politics where it carries a caption.

Inside Out would pick a different region each week.

Because the nations (Wales, NI and Scotland) opt out of more programming on BBC1 than any of the English regions do, so there was a more immediate need to get them into HD. Besides, there are only three of them, whereas there are 12 regions for England.

Providing all variations of BBC1 in HD and SD would require 30 separate satellite streams, which comes with a significant cost.

The trouble is my region comes under London/South East, but can also be East.

I get a lot of stuff from Bedford!

I didn't know that; thanks for explaining :)
