Malware letter

Hi,
Just received a letter "from" VM in a proper VM envelope etc... telling me a device using my network has been detected as having a Ghost-Push malware and the recommended solution was to download f-secure

now is the letter genuine? it does look genuine and it has all my account details etc and it doesn't give me a direct link just tell me to go to virginmedia.com/community and virginmedia.com/malware for help

thing is I'm lead to believe Ghost push is only on Android devises but I don't have any Android one's only IOS or Windows 8 & 10

:confused::confused:

Any help advise would be appreciated
P.S I already have F-secure, Malwarebite and spybot search and destroy and I've run these on all my windows devices and no issues found at all

thanks
Paul

Re: Malware letter

The letter is likely genuine and I've received a similar letter for a different issue in the past. It's hard to say when they actually detected it (unless it says in the letter itself), it could have been months ago and it could have been someone visiting you and using your wifi (For example). Just make sure you check all of your devices for malware - ipads, phones, fire sticks, all that gubbins.

If you can't find anything, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Re: Malware letter

Cheers thank you, I've now finished scanning everything and can't find anything,
the letter did have 14th of July on as a date of the malware but as it happens nobody was here as we was in our house in the Isle of wight and our router was switched off which is even more confusing

Ha ho as you say ignore it

Re: Malware letter

I had something similar last year. These are genuine letters and they are usually issued as a result of specific open ports - some of which have nothing to do with the reason they think.
