Disappointed with 60m upgrade
Had engineer around this morning to have my upgrade to 60m from 20 he only set up the wireless laptop and V+ box then left even though I told him my main pc was a desktop and it was wired..after he left I check the speed on my pc and it was down almost by half from what it was on my 20m service...there I was getting just over 21m with wired connection..now on wired I am only getting 9.59 Mbps from the BT speed tester site and 9338 off Namesco Broadband max...if I disable my onboard lan and enable my wireless card my download speed is 20462m...needless to say I am not impressed so far with this upgrade...here are the connection settings from the superhub

Re: Disappointed with 60m upgrade
downstream power well too high, youll need an engineer out

Re: Disappointed with 60m upgrade
so your areas been upgraded? whats the ETA you get from http://doublespeed.virginmedia.com/
isnt the cooling off period longer than 7 days? |
Re: Disappointed with 60m upgrade
I think cooling off period is 7 days but when I spoke to CS I asked them to make a note on PC that I would be away and only back next Saturday and that I reserved the right to cancel if what they told me that the problem was on their side which I know it is seeing that last night on 20m my speed was twice faster than what I am getting on 60m

same happened to me he left and let me with -10 downstream...then an other engineer had to come again |
Re: Disappointed with 60m upgrade
the installers are contractors and often do a quick job and bugger off.. then the network techs have to come round and fix up after them

Re: Disappointed with 60m upgrade
Woke up this morning and did a speedtest and now very happy as down load speed sitting at 61.55m

Re: Disappointed with 60m upgrade
your area may also be suffering high utilisation check your speed during the evening hours, after 7pm if possible and see what speeds you get.

Re: Disappointed with 60m upgrade
Without understanding any of the technical stuff here, I've also just been upgraded to 60mb, the consequence of being told that this could be done by a customer service agent I was talking to about billing. Having previously rarely dropped below 30 mb according to a speed test site I now rarely get close to 20 on the same site even on a wired connection, and in addition have had to reset my superhub, which might be much maligned but which for me has been pretty stable for approaching a year now, 4 times since the upgrade 3 days ago.
