Poppy Appeal 2011.

It is a special Remembrance appeal this year. Not only is it the 90th anniversary but so is the date.11/11/11.11 which falls on the Friday of next week.

I hope that you will support the appeal. For those who have had trouble finding a collecting point in recent years you can donate online.

Let's do our bit, for those who did their duty.

Given up wearing Poppys, they get damaged quite easily then it looks like I am being disrespectful. I think it's because I often sit on my coat or it gets crushed against the back of my chair, or the poppy falls off.

It's great sadness to me that every year the number of veterans out there and able to raise funds for this worthiest of causes reduces. We'll be supporting them as usual and feel honoured to do so. In view of their heroics and sacrifice, it's the least we can do.

Words cannot adequately express the debt of gratitude we owe to all those who've served this country, suffered and laid down their lives in the process.

God bless them all!

Well that's fair enough but I hope you donate to the appeal?:)

Yes, the traditional variety don't wear well. A couple of years ago the 'vets' were out in our local high street selling larger and more robust versions (e.g. metal/enamel) of the traditional paper poppy. I bought several for the family and we've proudly worn them for Remembrance ever since but still donate each year when the time comes.

I did see a badge version of the Poppy, lot more durable. Might get that.

Buy both and get the best of both worlds.

I was looking on the RBL store, they have Poppy everything. I like the badge, would rather get it from a stall however.

and are now forced to rely on charity. The appeal sums up the best and worst of this country imo, best obviously being all the people who donate and the worst being our slimeball MP's who'll be full of concern and sympathy on Rememberance Sunday but do sod all the other 364 days of the year to ensure the MOD look after them, mind you wouldn't want their budget being used on people when there's still oil barrels out there that need liberating.

We have one in Leeds market, usually buy 2 cups each year but might have to get something different as cupboard is getting very full. :erm:
