That was just one of the reasons, some of the others being:
  • The TiVo interface is pretty poor after SkyQ, they've not even got round to updating all the screens to HD on the V6 yet.
  • On screen layout is pretty poor, maybe the new TiVo interface may come to the V6 one day.
  • In the six days we were back there were problems with Sky Cinema on demand not working (buffering and or error messages) for 3 of them.
  • Recordings using more space than on Sky - that's mpeg2 v mpeg4.
  • HD appeared softer on VM

I could go on but I hope you get the point. A shame but there you go (and don't get me going on the 50 minute phone call to Scotland to cancel the V6 )

Cheers

Dave

It's the nanny state mentality we have had for years. The authorities don't trust parents to contol their kids viewing habits so we all have to put up with the inconvenience as a result.

Pathetic IMO.

I think you meant 5 seconds, Maggie! Unless your box is real slow...

That doesn't apply to Sky Cinema channels.

For the recordings? It certainly used to apply to the cinema channels.

As in you can't turn the PIN off.

The PIN is prompted on recordings at the same times as it would be for the live channel.

You used to be able to go to parental controls and turn off PIN prompt for recordings and it applied to Sky Cinema as well.

That was probably on the V boxes. On TiVo or Virgin TV V6 it can't be disabled.

Would be a little bit odd to allow that anyway, as it would mean that to get around the PIN you would just have to start a recording and then immediately start watching the recording.

That's right. They do this as on Sky Cinema, they show 15 and 18 category shows during the day. The whole point is to protect children for inadvertently accessing unsuitable material.

Is there anyway to turn off the pin for On Demand shows? I've got it turned off for recordings, and appreciate we're stuck with it on the Sky Movie channels, but seems a bit crazy have to put the PIN in to watch an On Demand episode of Family Guy at 9:45PM...
