HUB 3 Streams
Why does HUB 3 have 20 download streams but only has 2 upload streams?
am sure when I was on HUB 1 and 2 I had more upload streams than 2 which HUB 3 has. |

I have 24 download channels and 2 upload channels so you have nothing to worry about, your 20 down and 2 up is perfectly normal. |
Re: HUB 3 Streams
Some areas will have 20 to 24 downstream channels . But some areas have 4 upstream channels but the hub will only use 2 that the UBR tells it .

Re: HUB 3 Streams
whats the reason in having so few upload streams?

The shubs can use up to 4 bonded upstream channels. Many areas are only on 2, some are on 3 and I think some are even on 4. Adding more upstream channels costs a fortune and VM are trying to squeeze more juice out the existing channels before they invest in more (which is why we have seen the move to qam64 from qam16). As with everything though, you don't need to worry about the lack of channels unless you are suffering from congestion or slow speed. I am on two QAM64s and never have a problem getting full speed. |

Exactly the same in my area - 3 upstream channels available but only two ever used. This is the Business 350 Mb/s service on the Hitron |
Re: HUB 3 Streams
Not sure how many we have available but since they did some work in the area a few weeks ago we've been on 24 down and 3 up.

Re: HUB 3 Streams
OK - I see what's going on. You only have two bonded channels at any one time. Your area hasn't been upgraded to the extent that mine has.
I have four bonded channels. |

My upstream channels are 44 and 46 and always show as Qam 16 what does that mean for me?

Re: HUB 3 Streams
It means they've got to clean up the noise, prolly by renewing lasers.
Plus they need to add fibre or install frequency division in order to increase the number of available bonded channels on any node. |
