sky+ installation question

Hi,
just upgraded to sky+ and when the engineer came round he said he had to run another cable problem is that i have chased in the original cable and it is a right pain in the ass to run another cable, as the original i put under floor boards etc so it looks nice and neat.

Question is can i put a signal splitter on the end of the original cable and use the second outlet to feed the recording part of the box. i asked at maplin and just got a no, but no actual reason.

Please help,
Thanks

Brandon

Re: sky+ installation question

No because each tuner needs a feed back to the dish so that they can change the channel (Something to do with the axis the channel is broadcast on)

Ok thanks, so what is the point of a signal splitter then, sorry for sounding stupid.

Re: sky+ installation question

They're usually for use in Cable/CCTV/Other systems that require precise impedance and balance
