Reception issues

Hi

Just got a tv for my son's bedroom. If I plug it in to the external aerial via the co-ax cable, all the freeview tvs in the house lose their signal, and the new tv gets no signal -

If I connect via a freeview box and scary lead however, everything works ok! I'm curious as to why this would be the case, and if there is a simple solution?

Sounds like the TV is introducing interference onto your home aerial cabling via its RF socket. Is it new? Have you tried plugging an aerial lead directly into this TV, in any other room in the house?

Not tried it elsewhere, but it is a new samsung smart tv.
He had another tv there previously with the same issue, but I'd like to get it sorted so we can remove the freeview box!

The first thing you need to do is eliminate the TV as the source of the problem. Take the TV and the aerial cable you were using in his room, and plug them into an aerial socket somewhere else in the house. If you get it working, then you know you don't have an equipment fault.

Have a close look at the coax socket on the new TV & make sure there is nothing causing a "short" between the inner & outer parts. If not there is possibly a short inside, in which case the TV should be returned as faulty.
