Help please, to speed up my computer

I Have a Tower Pc , , i know nothing about computers so that is why i am asking on here and then i could go into a computer shop and not worry that they may not put the best spec in , so in mine at the moment i have

Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz 2.66 GHzo
Installed Ram - 4.00gb

i use multiple software at the same time , what would you recommend to me to get , i would rather spend some good money on my computer and get the best so i wont have to upgrade it for a long time , look forward to your recommendations.

It would be more cost-effective to buy a new one off the shelf, but add your existing hard drive to the case.

And SSD as first drive (C) will really speed things up, especially boot times. An SSD is basically a hard drive that doesn't spin.

With Win10 soon to be unsupported, you will no doubt get Win 11 which can be a big change for people with older versions. It says it only needs 4Gb of RAM, but 8Gb or more would really help it if you run multiple programs at a time.

2 companies we use in this family are:

https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk

But Currys sometimes has good offers https://www.currys.co.uk/computing/desktop-pcs

More Ram and an SSD will make that system seem like it is new. I am assuming the drive in there now is mechanical. It is old enough to be either

This will tell you

If you are running slow it might be time to back up and do a clean install

Definately increase the RAM. 4GB is not really a lot to run multiple apps depending how intensive the apps are.

I would install the max Ram the motherboard will supprt.

Re: Help please, to speed up my computer

RAM seems the main thing to upgrade here.
You will need to open the case up to check if you have free slots available.
Then use the Crucial website to find the correct type of RAM.

Other things you can do:

1. Right click the task bar at the bottom of the screen and select Task Manager.
Go to the Startup tab.
Disable anything you dont need to have running in the background, eg. Skype, ITunes Helper, MS Teams, or whatever else.

2. In Windows, Search for "Adjust the appearence and Performance of Windows". Tick "Adjust for best performance". Click Apply.

The system will also as I have said massively benefit from a clean install

Info on your budget might help. What type of software you use too.
